The restaurant

They met in 1969.
Still at the same table.

José Canelas — from Arouca — started in the trade at 15, at the legendary Montenegro restaurant in Porto, known to everyone as A Mamuda. That’s where he met Maria da Soledade, the owner’s niece.

In 1980, the couple — with their colleague Fernanda — opened their first restaurant, where they spent almost 40 years and became known for their hake fillets with bean rice, hake head à Rosa do Adro and salt-cod fish cakes.

In 2017 they opened this house: the Senhor Zé. They brought the recipes with them. The essence is all here.
